Continued with the movie Cromwell today, and we worked on a crossword to review Unit 2.
I handed out a list with the key countries to focus on for a quiz on Tuesday.

We looked at the news from Honduras, then reviewed some notes on Oliver Cromwell. We looked at the key differences between Constitutional Monarchy, Absolute Monarchy and a Republic. In the second half we watched Cromwell with Richard Harris and Alec Guiness. Homework----Due Friday Sept 25--Assignment on Why I should fight against Charles I.

we looked at the issues regarding Canada in World War I---the war at home,sea and women's rights. We Completed activity sheet 2-8 Who Should go to War? The second half was spent in the IT room working on our Trench projects.

We looked at propaganda posters from world war I today--use this website to see them:

We then started a Propaganda assignment in the computer room that should look similar to the examples seen above.

We looked at the issue of how far you would go for your beliefs and then went to the Library to work on our project--You must convince me in powerpoint/poster/essay etc... why I should revolt against Charles I --This assignment will be due on Friday Sept. 25, 2009

There is no quiz for Sept 22. there will be a 60 mark test on Monday Sept 28 though--areas include avoir etc... er/re/ir, partir/sortir/lire/dire/vouloir/pouvoir/prendre/mettre/mon ma mes etc... time/numbers, en and y.
Today we went over lire/dire/partir/sortir and how to ask time as well as a review of en and y
Use the websites at the side for extra practice.

We Reviewed (15 key verbs),( mon, ma, mes etc...)( plus,moins, aussi...que) and the pronoun en.
(check the websites to the left for information on these topics as well as extra practice)

There will be a quiz for 20 marks Tomorrow on er/re/ir

Socials 9

We looked at the tree of religions from Judaism to CAtholicism to the Protestant religions as well as a brief diagram on the reign of the Tudors. The last 40 minutes of class was used to work on the posters--Due on Friday with only 15 minutes on work on it on Thursday.

We went over key evnets leading to world war one and then up to library to work on wordsheet fact finding---Quiz on Friday--15 marks in class essay on the following topic, "Canada was a divided country at the start of the 20th Century" 3 pp essay

On Wed Sept 16 there will be a 20 mark quiz on re, ir and re verb ending--regular only unless bonus.
On Fri Sept 18 there will be a 20 mark quiz on aller, avoir, etre and faire conjugation.

Socials 9 We went over the course outlines in class and class rules and expectations--No Homework.
French 9 We went over the rules and expectations, worked on a translation diagnostic exercise. For homework due on Friday you must answer the 9 personal questions in French.
Socials 11 We discussed Sesame street and the concept of perspective on what is right and what is wrong at different time in History.--We started to look at Laurier's Canada--no Homework

Socials 11----no homework, but we will collect our books and proceed to start with a little lesson on Sir Wilfred Laurier and Canada at the start of the 20th Century.
French9-----no homework. Tomorrow we start with the 4 basic verbs, numbers and days of the week.
